I got into Greek mythology by accident. While starting to write a middle-grade novel about a winged horse, I kept changing his name, but nothing fit. I finally realized the best name for him was Pegasus and that I had to incorporate Greek mythology into my story. So I asked a friend to fill me in since he had been passionate about Greek mythology his entire life. Then I delved into ancient sources, mostly found at theoi.com. As much as possible, I wanted the story to be authentic. But as I wrote into the myths and made them my own, I accidentally found myself in an internal labyrinth and felt compelled to keep going.
I have an MA in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University. I have written articles about California’s coastal and marine issues for various publications and two Adult New Reader books published by The Sacramento Public Library.
